With every property comes unique challenges, your home or business may be a in a block of flats or an older Victorian property. As such, it can be very challenging to provide a rule of thumb for every job. We've provided some examples here for you to get a sense of what each job entails.

Spotlight and Power Socket Installation

Spotlights are amongst the most common type of jobs we work on. Regardless of property type, LED spotlights are efficient and quite diverse in style and colouring.

Power sockets can be more complicated due to the location of a power supply, but if there is a power supply easily accessible it can be a pragmatic addition to your room.

Both of these types of work require that power supply be readily available, if there isn't a place for us to connect power to your socket or light, new cable has to be installed which naturally increases time spent on job.

If its possible to utilise existing cables, then the installation of 2-4 power outlets or spotlights could be done in short order.

Typical time: 1-2 Hours

Average Cost: £240 excluding fixtures

Outdoor Lighting

Outdoor lighting can be very complex depending on the source of power and what style and atmosphere you are aiming to create. Garden lights, garage floodlamps, or in ground spotlights in themselves aren't difficult, but routing power to them can be difficult depending on the cable route (where we have to place your power supply) and how far away your circuit board is.

We have to be mindful of what is safest for both you and your family, and therefore sometimes recommend stronger cabling or cable conduits to ensure that over time, your power cables are not exposed and cause a safety risk.

Estimated Costs: from £400+ depending on the complexity of the project.

New Room - Lighting + Power Sockets

A lot of things are at play in building a new room and electrical layout. Typically, new wiring needs to laid from the Circuit Board to the room as previous wiring should not be used. This entails running the appropriate cable from your Circuit Board to the room, through your home which can be challenging if the cables are to be hidden from view.

Alternatively you can mount cable on the wall within a conduit to give a more discreet look. Throughout this process, we will need to ensure the new layout suits your objectives, while at the same time maintaining compliance with electrical safety regulation.

Typically, a new room would entail tearing out the existing walls and wiring which requires safe disconnection and working in coordination with your designated builders.

We also have partners that we regularly work with and can provide recommendations.

Typical Time: Dependent on your Builder

Average Cost: £3,000-£6,000

Switching out the Hob

A normally straightforward task that requires disconnecting power, disconnecting the hob from the oven unit, and then attaching the new hob.

Typical time: 1-2 Hours

Average Cost: £240

Tripping Circuits

Does your circuit breaker trip for no apparent reason? You may have a fault somewhere along your wiring or connections that is causing your breakers to trip (turn off). Typically its a loose connection on your light or a socket, but sometimes it can be the decaying/damage of the wires. In addressing an issue like this, an electrician needs to investigate each of the connections to determine where the issue arises. This can be a time consuming process but also could be a simple tightening of connections.

We typically can resolve most scenarios in 1-2 hours, but additional time may be needed if its a particularly large house (3+ bedrooms).

Estimated Cost: £120 to £240 in most cases.
